There was a lad, A tiny bit sad, There was a lad, A tiny bit mad. He was alright, Just not as bright, He was alright, Just never put up a fight. He would see brush strokes where there was sky, He would paint rivers overflowing as he watched them dry, He would see compassion in hearts that had long gone wry, There was lad, Just a tiny bit shy. Born in a world that was destined for death, Born with life that had no business in a dying world, Born with love that was meant to replace faith, Born in a time that was destined for death. It was all okay, No rivers to swim in, No forests to roam in, No people to love, No birds to follow. It was all okay, Death did seem kinder, The lad full of life, Burnt up at the pyre of civilization, Like a hushed up tinder.
